Tashkent is the most important city of Uzbekistan because this city is the capital, the administrative center of the Republic and a very unique place where ancient East and modernity are the best neighbors. Tashkent is a prosperous metropolis, which population (more than 3 million people) growing with every day. This city has changed the most around all of the other cities of Uzbekistan because of its special status of capital.
Tashkent is undoubtedly an oriental city, but at the same time, it soaked features of different epochs. The form of Tashkent changes depending on the angle you’re looking from: you can see very ancient and legendary buildings with blue domes like in the oriental fairy-tale; you can travel back to the times of Turkestan governor-generalship with its full of Europe elegancy buildings; you will see standard a little bit boring architecture of the Soviet period and gorgeous building of Navoi Theater built the same time.

Temur aka Tamerlane (9 April 1336 – 17/19 February 1405) was a Turco-Mongol conqueror who founded the Timurid Empire, which spanned modern-day
Afghanistan, Iran, and Central Asia. An undefeated commander, he is widely regarded as one of the greatest military leaders and tacticians in history, as well as one of the most brutal. Join me as I walk around and discover the main sites of Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan!
Places visited:
1- Hotel Uzbekistan:
Located in the heart of the city by Amir Temur Square, this imposing 17-story hotel dates back to 1974 when it was the leading luxury hotel in Tashkent during the communist era.
2- Tashkent Chimes:
The chimes of Tashkent are one of the eternal symbols of the city. The bells screech every 15 minutes to commemorate those who died during WWII.
3- Palace of International Forums:
This massive palace functions as a platform for hosting acts of state, congresses, conferences and other cultural highlights.
4- Amir Temur Square:
The Amir Temur (also spelled Timur) square is the main town square in Tashkent. Prior to it, there was a park built during the first governor-general of the Russian Turkestan era under the name Constantinov Square. It was built in 1882 by Nikolai Ulyanov who was working under Mikhail Chernyayev. After the 1917 Russian Revolution, the square was renamed Revolution Square. The statue of Joseph Stalin was placed in the square during the late 1940s, but it was subsequently removed due to the October 1961 resolution that all Stalin's statues would be removed. In 1968, a statue of Karl Marx was erected. After the independence of Uzbekistan, the square was renamed Amir Temur square in 1994, and Timur's statue was placed on the site.
